At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, during a planned drill for one of our schools, our alert system Centegix was accidentally triggered for all schools to be placed into a lockdown. This was in error, and the lockdowns were quickly cleared. As always, we are thankful for the immediate response of the Bristol Tennessee Police Department. We apologize for the disruption.

On January 7, 2025, PowerSchool sent a communication to all their customers about the breach, including steps to determine whether our system was compromised. Following the steps within the PowerSchool notification, our BTCS Technology Department conducted a thorough review of our PowerSchool system security logs and internet traffic and concluded that our firewall was not breached; thus, the data on our PowerSchool instance was not compromised.

Anderson has been designated as a Reward School for the first time ever by the Tennessee Department of Education! This prestigious recognition is awarded to schools that exhibit high levels of performance and significant improvement across various indicators, including student achievement and growth. Reward School status is the highest distinction a public school can receive in Tennessee, highlighting exceptional academic progress and commitment to student success. Of the 1,691 schools in the state, only 377 achieved the honor. "Reward School status is a reflection of the dedication and teamwork of our students, teachers, administrators, and parents who strive for excellence daily,” said Dr. Annette Tudor, director of schools. “This recognition highlights the commitment to academic growth and success happening in our classrooms and the support of our broader community. We are honored to celebrate their hard work and remain dedicated to ensuring every student has opportunities to succeed. I want to congratulate Anderson, Holston View, and TOPS as it is no small feat to demonstrate the level of achievement this designation requires."
